Ralph Calabrese is a disabled veteran who has undergone 6 spinal surgeries, 6 knee surgeries, 3 nose, ankle, thumb, hernia, shoulder, and countless other medical procedures, while also being diagnosed with fibromyalgia.
He is the youngest of 8 children, his dad died when he was only 2, he left home at 13, was arrested twice at 14, was sent off from 14 to 15, took his mom to court at 15 and was legally allowed to leave his childhood home.
He was responsible for himself and lived on his own all through high school and still graduated while working second shift as a welder in a factory.
A year after graduating high school, he joined the Army as a tracked and wheeled vehicle mechanic. He suffered non-combat injuries that after his 4 years of service, would result in over 2 decades of struggle and repair. He was on and off opioids for over a decade.
He has also been a stay-at-home dad to 2 daughters for 15 years and with his wife for 25. She has struggled with mental health issues and he spent a decade and a half trying to better understand the underlying causes of her behavior and ways to manage the totality of everyday life.
He thought, given all that he has experienced, surely it could help others as well!
